Overview
Ms. Kennedy is a partner at Hardy McLean LLC.
​
Ms. Kennedy represents energy companies, oil and gas operators, investor-owned utilities, and other commercial entities in proceedings before State of New Mexico regulatory agencies and in state and federal courts.
​
During her career, Ms. Kennedy worked at law firms in New Mexico and California, supporting both corporate and governmental clients on a wide range of legal issues.
In 2020, Ms. Kennedy moved with her family to Japan, where she worked as a civilian attorney with the Department of the Navy Office of General Counsel, supporting the United States Marine Corps throughout the Indo-Pacific region, including Japan, Korea, Guam, and Hawaii, for more than four years. In that role, she provided legal guidance and representation on a wide variety of legal matters, including labor and employment, contracting, fiscal law, international law, and ethics. Following her overseas tour, Ms. Kennedy was awarded the Navy’s Meritorious Civilian Service Award for exemplary public service.
Ms. Kennedy is a native Vermonter but has lived in New Mexico on and off for over a decade and is excited to be back in Santa Fe with her family. When she isn’t working, Ms. Kennedy enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors, including hiking, camping, skiing and snowboarding with her two kids, and playing with their two dogs.
Professional Details
Ms. Kennedy obtained her Juris Doctorate, summa cum laude, from the University of New Mexico School of Law, graduating second in her class. While in law school, she served as a manuscript editor on the New Mexico Law Review and published the note: “For This Right There is a Remedy: The New Mexico Supreme Court’s Application of Ex parte Young to Allow Suits Against the State, Gill v. Public Employees Retirement Board,” New Mexico Law Review, Vol. 35, No. 3, Summer 2005. Following law school, she worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Lynn Pickard on the New Mexico Court of Appeals.
For nearly twenty years, Ms. Kennedy has successfully practiced before state and federal administrative entities, federal courts (including the United States Supreme Court and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals), and state courts in both New Mexico and California.

Representative Matters
Ms. Kennedy has prevailed in appellate proceedings before the United States Supreme Court, Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the New Mexico Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Notable cases include Laul v. Los Alamos National Laboratories, 765 F. App’x. 434 (10th Cir. 2019); Sunnyland Farms, Inc. v. Central New Mexico Electric Cooperative, Inc., 2013-NMSC-017, 301 P.3d 387; Grassie v. Roswell Hospital Corporation, 2011-NMCA-024, 258 P.3d 1075; and McNeil v. Rice Engineering and Operating, Inc., 2010-NMSC-015, 229 P.3d 489.
